Eligibility
Even though the league is housed in membership-based private pools, the league is open to all since we are the only option for recreational water polo in the Seattle area. However, some of our pools cannot accept outside members due to space constraints or club rules. You will need to contact each pool to determine if they allow non-members to join their clubs.
There are a few exceptions to our open eligibility:
It is the board's desire to develop water polo programs at all pools to eliminate the need for this issue. It is the desire of the League to have each of the 16 GSSSL Clubs to field their own water polo teams.
There are a few exceptions to our open eligibility:
- To be eligible to participate in any games you must have paid a team fee to play water polo at the club you represent and filled out all applicable waivers..
- If your Greater Seattle Summer Swim League Club supports a water polo program you must play for your own Club.
- If you are a member of a GSSSL Club that doesn't have water polo you are allowed to practice and play for another GSSSL Club for the regular season only.
- Clubs, Coaches and parents are not allowed to recruit experienced water polo non-members. The non-member rules are for the purpose of exposing the sport to new players and friends of club members.
- All Non-Members need to be approved each year.
a) New Non-Members should be novice water players only.
b) No players from Midlakes are allowed to participate
c) Once a new Non-Member has been approved and played for a club, they are eligible until they age out (18 or summer after HS graduation). They also retain their eligibility to play if they decide to participate in HS WP or a year round WP Club. THE APPROVAL PROCESS WAS PUT INTO PLACE TO PREVENT CLUBS FROM RECRUITING OR USING EXPERIENCED PLAYERS (WP CLUB OR HIGH SCHOOL)
