Eligibility
Even though the league is housed in membership-based private pools, the league is open to all since we are the only option for recreational water polo in the Seattle area. However, some of our pools cannot accept outside members due to space constraints or club rules. You will need to contact each pool to determine if they allow non-members to join their clubs.
There are a few exceptions to our open eligibility:
It is the board's desire to develop water polo programs at all pools to eliminate the need for this issue. It is the desire of the League to have each of the 16 GSSSL Clubs to field their own water polo teams. The league will help fund equipment and pay for coaching at any club that wants to start their own program. Please contact Doc Zimmer for more details. [email protected] / 206-999-6624
There are a few exceptions to our open eligibility:
- To be eligible to participate in any games you must have paid a team fee to play water polo at the club you represent and filled out all applicable waivers..
- If your Greater Seattle Summer Swim League Club supports a water polo program you must play for your own Club.
- If you are a member of a GSSSL Club that doesn't have water polo you are allowed to practice and play for another GSSSL Club for the regular season only. Prelims and Championship games require board approval to be eligible. In recent years the board has established a policy of not approving any new individuals to participate in the postseason games. The only exceptions to this policy are a few individuals who have been "grandfathered" in.
